The 2023 May Day Procession was a massive success 🙂
Morris dancing started at the Whitstble Library at 10am, with a procession up to the Horsebridge Arts Centre, where there will be more morris dancing… plus Pelo Mar, Whitstable’s fabulous Samba band played at the Harbour and at the Castle… then the Jack in the Green, his band and all his friends made a spectacular entrance to join the procession – including Sam the Whistable Giant – in Harbour Street to dance up to the harbour to meet the Samba band Pelo Mar, for even more morris dancing!!The final leg of the procession was up to the Whistable Castle, where everybody sang the Whitstable May Day song (you can find the lyrics here!), with fun and games and stalls run by the incredible Whitstable, Herne Bay and Canterbury Lions Club; a bit more Morris dancing; more fabulous Samba music and a whole heap of entertainment!!
